OTTUMWA — The only chance to walk the 2019 Holiday Nights ’N Lights is coming up Nov. 15.
This is the 15th year the Wapello County Trails Council has hosted a hike through the holiday display. The one-mile route gives people the chance to get a look at this year’s display and linger without backing up traffic. It is the only time people are allowed to view the display on foot.
The hike is from 5:30-8 p.m. in Ottumwa Park, and those walking the route must begin by 7:30 p.m. Participants can enter through the trailhead behind Quincy Place Mall or park across Highway 34 and use the pedestrian underpass to join the trail. The cost is $5 per person.
Refreshments like hot chocolate are available, but people should still dress for the weather. Organizers also suggest bringing a flashlight.
Proceeds support trail development in Ottumwa.
