OTTUMWA — Work on next week’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner is well underway, but there are still a couple needs for organizers.
Pam Ward said the biggest questions are the same as each year: deliveries. Reservations for home-delivered meals are open. People may call Jennifer at 641-660-4290 or reach Angie or Koree at 641-226-2313 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Reservations for the meals may be made through Wednesday, Nov. 27.
Ward said drivers for the deliveries are always needed. People can arrive at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 123 W. Third St., between 8:30-9 a.m. on Thanksgiving if they are willing to help deliver meals to people.
Diners may eat at the hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Organizers have set an ambitious goal for service in 2019, and it means they need people to lend a hand inside to keep things moving.
“Our target this year is 1,800, so we’ll need lots of extra hands,” Ward said.
Entrees and side dishes are already figured out, but there is one remaining gap Ward hoped people can help fill: desserts.
“We can always use more desserts. That’s something we try to get on Monday or Wednesday,” she said.
The Thanksgiving meal is an Ottumwa tradition. With a little help, this year will create a new set of memories.
