The Soles for Souls shoe drive gave away about 250 pairs of shoes this year, but organizers say it depleted their reserves. Donations are welcome.

OTTUMWA — Organizers of this year’s Soles for Souls shoe pantry said donations and community support made this year’s event a success.

Pam Schell-Cloyd said the event, held Aug. 22, gave away about 250 pairs of shoes for those who needed them. The success is encouraging, but it also means that the shoe pantry is now running low again.

People who have shoes in reasonably good shape that are no longer being worn may leave them in the bin at the back of Bible Baptist Church, 944, W. Williams St., in Ottumwa.

Questions can be directed to the church at 641-682-9609.

The shoe pantry is open at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Other arrangements can be made by calling the church at 641-682-9609.
