OTTUMWA — City officials are planning a public meeting later this month on the streetscape project, which will remake the 100 through 300 blocks of East Main Street.
The work includes installation of new sanitary and storm sewers, as well as a new water main. The street will be completely replaced, with permeable pavers and new plantings to transform the appearance.
City officials and economic development personnel are hopeful about the project, though all admit it will be disruptive. The work will take place across two construction seasons, beginning later this summer.
The meeting at 5 p.m. June 28 will be at Market on Main. Representatives from the city, the architectural firm that designed the work, and Portzen Construction, which will do the work, will be on hand to answer questions.
