OTTUMWA — The Wapello County Board of Supervisors meeting went quicker than the usual weekly meetings.
The Board of Supervisors met to approve of the third and final agreement between county engineer Jeff Skalberg, his team of engineers and I.D.O.T for the relocation of Rabbit Run.
Supervisor Jerry Parker asked if the agreement involved the detour. Skaelberg said the detour is a result of the final agreement.
“Rabbit Run is our property,” Skalberg said. “With this relocation there will be a section of the road towards the end, which is going to be demolished and removed at their (I.D.O.T’s) cost. There’s no cost to us that I’m aware of.”
Rabbit Run is located across Highway 63 from the end of East Mary Street and runs mostly along the Des Moines River until it terminates at 110th Avenue southeast of Ottumwa.
After approval for the relocation of Rabbit Run took place, Supervisor Brain Morgan asked Skaelburg about a turn around on Rabbit Run.
“We’re leaving enough room for drivers to turn around, but we won’t have enough room for a cul-de-sac,” Skaelburg said.
