OTTUMWA — The Wapello County Board of Supervisors will meet in regular session Tuesday to discuss a contract for janitorial services for the courthouse.

A contract between the county and Professional Janitorial Service states the county will pay the business $185 per cleaning, beginning Oct. 1 and ending Oct. 1, 2022. The janitorial service is required to provide all cleaning supplies, such as janitor carts, rags, mops, buckets, etc.

The business also will provide detailed cleaning of all offices, kitchens, hallways, stairways, and other rooms, and cleaning items within those rooms, such as desks and computers.

The business also will not sublet any of the work without the approval of the board.

In other business:

• The supervisors will sign a resolution accepting the elevator project as finished. The county had been waiting for a final inspection from the state fire marshal's office, even though the elevator had been available for public use for a few days.

• The supervisors are expected to approve the hire of Stephen Horning as a correctional officer in the jail, which fills a vacant correctional officer opening.

• Following the meeting, the supervisors will meet in closed session to discuss matters currently in litigation. There could be possible action after the closed session ends.

The supervisors meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the third-floor courtroom/board room, and will be live-streamed on the supervisors' YouTube channel.
