EDDYVILLE — A traffic stop near Eddyville uncovered more than two pounds of methamphetamine and resulted in two arrests.

Diego Gutierrez, 23, 214 W. Fifth St., Apt. A, Ottumwa, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. The methamphetamine charge is a Class B felony.

Jessica Grace Hill, 31, 147 N. Ward St., Ottumwa, was charged with prohibited acts and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Officials said the stop was made on Highway 63 south of Eddyville as part of an ongoing investigation by the Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force, Wapello County Sheriff’s Department and the Ottumwa Police Department. A search of the vehicle resulted in confiscation of cash and scales in addition to the drugs.

Authorities also searched a camper in Ottumwa Park connected to Gutierrez and his apartment as part of the investigation. Gutierrez is being held without bond in the Wapello County Jail. Hill was released after posting her bond.
