OTTUMWA — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be back in Ottumwa next month to stock the pond in Ottumwa Park with more trout.
The biannual trout stocking has become a popular event with Ottumwa and area anglers. The IDNR places the fish in carefully selected locations around the state where trout would not normally be present. The program offers more people a chance to catch trout than would normally be able to do so.
Stocking is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30. Those ages 16 and older who fish will need a valid license, and a trout stamp is required for those who fish for or possess trout.
Licenses can be purchased online via the IDNR website.
