OTTUMWA — A wanted sex offender was apprehended in Ottumwa Thursday night after a brief foot chase.
Earlier in the day, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Adam Andrew Davis was hiding out in the 1300 block of Locust Street. When deputies arrived at 9:44 p.m., Davis attempted to run but was quickly arrested without incident.
Davis was wanted on a warrant for escape/absence from the Burlington Residential Facility and for violation of the sex offender registry; he was listed in the Iowa Sex Offender Registry’s Most Wanted list.
During the investigation, deputies discovered Davis had been living in Ottumwa for an extended time. He was then charged with an additional count of violating the sex offender registry for living in Wapello County without registering with the sheriff’s department.
