OTTUMWA — An Ottumwa barbecue restaurant has emerged as champion in the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s pulled pork bracket.
The contest grouped establishments in regions, with a tournament-style bracket leading to the final matchup between Warehouse Barbecue and Le Mars’ Iowa Barbecue Company. Warehouse Barbecue was announced as the winner Friday.
It was a big win for a newcomer. Warehouse Barbecue opened in December. At the time, owner Dusty Ware said barbecue had a unique ability to bring people together, and he hoped the restaurant would become a place where people could enjoy good food and good company.
A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page thanked customers and supporters for the role they played in the voting and for dining.
