Most Americans will tell you that fixing our ailing health care system is a top priority this election. Somehow, America is the only industrialized nation in the world without universal health care. How can this be? How can we have 47 million Americans waking up every day hoping they don’t get sick or injured because they can’t afford to go to the doctor?

For too long, insurance companies and drug lobbyists have held all the power in Washington. It is time that we take their power away and give it back to working Americans like you and me. The average American does not have a lobbyist working for them in Washington; therefore, we must not give insurance companies and drug lobbyists a seat at the health care table or they will take advantage of the average American like they have so many times in the past. Only one candidate has promised to work for the average person and that’s why I’m supporting John Edwards on caucus night.

Edwards’ plan will not only cover everyone, it will also reduce costs throughout the system so that middle class families and businesses can actually afford insurance. His plan will save an average family up to $2,500 a year. He’ll get rid of the lobbyists and their special interest friends who have been preventing any real change for decades. Edwards has pledged that if universal health care has not passed Congress in his first six months in office that congress, the president, and all presidential appointees will lose their health care until it is passed.

If our leadership has a vested interest in insuring all Americans, we will get it done. America needs real leadership. America needs big change. America needs John Edwards.
