WAUKEE — The Ottumwa Bulldog girls soccer team has survived the long road trip that they’ve been forced to face to start the season.
The Bulldogs (2-2) have played all four of their games so far this season on the road, including Thursday night when they were dropped 7-0 by Waukee.
Sammy Fegen led Waukee with two goals in the game, one coming at the nine minute mark and another with just a minute and a half left in the first period. Taylor Wood of Waukee scored the first goal of the evening at the 6:45 mark.
The Bulldogs managed zero shots on goal while Waukee fired 23 shots at the Bulldogs’ net.
“I was overall pleased with our effort,” said Bulldog coach Erin Ebling. “We played hard all 80 minutes and the score may not show it, but we did good tonight.”
The Bulldogs will get a chance to play their first home game of the season on Tuesday when they host Fairfield.
