CENTERVILLE — The Ottumwa wrestling made the most of their trip to Lakeview Gymnasium, knocking off third-ranked (2A) Centerville in a dual that went right down to the very final match.

OTTUMWA – Andy Maw, who has been served as the president of the Ottumwa Soccer club growing the sport locally on the youth level, is set to take over the reins as the head coach of the Ottumwa High School boys soccer team.

OTTUMWA – Almost on cue, a verbal thud could be heard throughout the renovated weight room at Ottumwa High School just as athletic director Scott Maas was describing the benefits of the improvements.

WAUKEE — Entering the final day of competition in 2019 with just one dual win, the Ottumwa High School wrestling team found some success to build on heading into the new decade.

OTTUMWA – The Ottumwa Bulldogs Archery team held the program’s first home tournament of the 2019-20 season. The highlight of the day was a first-place finish by the Liberty Elementary archers in 3D target competition.

AMES – Trae Swartz reached double figures for the second straight game, scoring 10 points for the Ottumwa boys basketball team in a tough 45-35 loss at Ames on Friday night.

OTTUMWA – When it gets right down to it, the fundamentals of wrestling are what Pekin head coach Al Chapman focused his kids on heading into the first two duals of the season.

OTTUMWA – Head coaches Doug Techel and Tom Maher will be presenting “Meet the Bowlers” at Champion Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. The event is a chance for fans to meet the members of the Ottumwa High School girls and boys bowling teams.

OTTUMWA – The Ottumwa archery program will be holding their first practice sessions for the upcoming season next week. Practices will be held for elementary, middle school and high school students starting on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m.

MASON CITY — The Mason City High School football game scored twice in the final five minutes and rallied past Ottumwa 28-17 in the Class 4A District 6 finale for both teams Friday at Mohawks Stadium.

MARSHALLTOWN – In her fourth and final season as a high school cross-country runner, Ottumwa senior Alli Bookin-Nosbisch qualified for her fourth and final state cross-country race on Thursday in Marshalltown.
