DES MOINES – For the second time in two weeks, the Ottumwa volleyball team came within one game of knocking off Des Moines Lincoln.
OTTUMWA – The Ottumwa High School volleyball team will be hosting Waukee on Tuesday night in a Class 5A regional first-round match at Evans Middle School Gymnasium.
DES MOINES – All seven members of the Ottumwa High School girls cross-country team earned all-conference honors on Thursday by placing in the top 16 of the CIML Metro Conference meet.
OSKALOOSA — Not that they needed any more confidence at this point of the season with a six-ranked squad on the cusp of a conference title and a top seed in their regional, but Oskaloosa took care of business on Saturday at their home tournament by dominating their way to a perfect 5-0 record and a title without dropping a single set.

IOWA CITY – Jasmine Luedtke edged out Lina Newland for the top time among Ottumwa runners competing in the girls race at the Bud Williams Invitational on Thursday.
MOUNT PLEASANT – Gavin Van Veen and Brady McWhirter each placed in the top 10 for the Fairfield boys while Kelsey Pacha and Carley Seeley paced the Fairfield girls to a third-place finish among the large schools running at the Mount Pleasant Invitational on Tuesday.
MARSHALLTOWN – Back in the pool at the Linda Bloom Natatorium for the first time since competing at state, the Ottumwa High School girls swimming team racked up 94 points on Saturday at the Marshalltown Bobcat Invitational.
PELLA – Some of the top cross country runners in the state and bordering states made their way to the Central College cross country course on Saturday for Pella’s 16th Annual Heartland Classic. Over 1,000 athletes from 43 different schools showed up for the event including Pella.
OSKALOOSA – Several area teams battled it out with some of the top teams and top athletes in the state on Tuesday at the Oskaloosa Invitational cross-country meet.
FAIRFIELD – While athletes around Waterworks Park had to be helped back to their camps, Lina Newland looked like she was ready to keep on running.
OTTUMWA – Ottumwa High School softball tryouts will be held this week at Huston Field. The two-part tryouts will take place on Wednesday and Friday from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

OTTUMWA — Ottumwa High School announced on Wednesday plans to establish an athletic hall-of-fame recognizing former athletes as well as any former or current coaches that represented the school at high level within their program.
OTTUMWA — Three members of the Ottumwa High School softball team earned first-team all-CIML Metro conference honors. Sophomore pitcher Ashlynn Sheets, sophomore infielder Ella Allar and junior Amber Shotts were selected to the first team with Sheets being one of three utility players selected.

OTTUMWA — Ashlynn Sheets could feel the nerves in the first inning in the Bulldogs' 5A Region 8 quarterfinal against Iowa City West on Thursday.
BURLINGTON – Samantha Weeks delivered the biggest hit of her young Ottumwa High School softball career on Tuesday, delivering a bases-clearing double with two outs in the sixth inning to help rally the Bulldogs in the second game of a historic doubleheader against Burlington.
