LIBERTY, Mo. — Nasty weather conditions greeted the Indian Hills golfers Friday at the William Jewell Invite, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Warriors from a dominating victory.

Indian Hills shot a 311 on day two, and finished with a total of 582 for the tournament in Liberty, Mo. Second place Lindenwood University was 28 strokes back with a 610.

“It wasn’t even close to being ideal conditions today with the temperature and the wind,” Indian Hills coach Mike Hagen said. “It wasn’t golf and it wasn’t golf weather. It was more about survival.”

The leaderboard illustrated the Warriors’ total control of the invite. Indian Hills’ Steven McGlynn captured medalist honors with a total of 142. On Thursday, McGlynn fired a round of 67.

“I think I’ve hit the ball well all spring,” McGlynn said. “I just hit a few more putts today. I played good this week.”

Agency native, Nate Smith took runner-up with a 145. Smith also shot a 67 in the opening round before the weather made playing conditions tougher.

Two other Warriors finished in the top five. Jake Weeber placed fourth with a 148 and Chris Dougill came in fifth with a 149.

“Chris struggled in the first couple of tournaments this spring, but I wasn’t worried,” Hagen said. “Chris is a gamer. We saw him post a good number yesterday.

“It was also nice to see Jake come through. He had another good tournament.”

Eric Anfinson shot a 153 in the tournament to round out the Indian Hills scores.

Andy Weir and Nick Ott each shot a 160 playing unattached.

Indian Hills is peaking as it heads into the final stretch of its schedule. The Warriors finally get to stay home next weekend, as they host the Community 1st Credit Union Spring Invitational at the Ottumwa Country Club.

McGlynn is excited to play at home with the team playing well.

“We have five golfers that are playing really solid,” McGlynn said. “I think we are ready for big things at nationals.”

The Community 1st Credit Union Spring Invitational is slated for April 18-19.
