Warrior spikers compete at Highland

HIGHLAND, KS – The Indian Hills volleyball team dropped in the national rankings from 15th to 19th after dropping a pair of matches at the Highland Community College triangular.

The Warriors opened up against Highland, dropping the first two sets 27-25 and 25-19 before rallying to extend the match by winning the third set 27-25. Highland rebounded with a 25-22 fourth-set victory to clinch the victory.

Indian Hills dropped a 25-21, 25-13, 25-13 decision to seventh-ranked Butler, the 10th ranked opponent the Warrior spikers have faced so far this season. Sophomore Jarolin de los Santos led the Warriors against Highland with 12 kills on 18 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage to go along with a career-high six solo blocks.

Brooke Amann and Zara McCauley each recorded 11 kills for Indian Hills. Hennesys Lalane added a team-high 48 assists and 13 digs.

The Warriors struggled to find an offensive rhythm against Butler in the nightcap, hitting just .036 in the loss. Erica Calderon Rosario posted a team-high eight kills, adding five digs, while Anja Vranic recorded 13 digs on the defensive front.

Indian Hills (14-8) return to Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) play on Wednesday at Marshalltown. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.
