COLFAX — Emma Lenox and Rylee German each drove in two runs apiece, and the EBF High School softball team built a five-run lead before hanging on for a 7-4 victory over Class 2A No. 15 Colfax-Mingo Friday.
German pounded out three of EBF's 11 hits on the night, while Lenox and Reina Taylor scored twice apiece.
The Rockets got the offense going early, as German doubled in a pair of runs in the opening inning. In the fifth, Lenox hit a two-run home run to put them up 5-0.
Colfax-Mingo scored twice in the sixth, then two more times in the seventh, but couldn't get any closer.
Peyton Deevers picked up the win, allowing three runs and scattering seven hits over seven innings, while striking out four.
Colbee Cunningham drove in a run for Colfax-Mingo, but took the loss, allowing six earned runs.
EBF visits Class 1A No. 8 Lynnville-Sully Monday.
