BURLINGTON – Ottumwa sophomore teammates Corbin Grace and Treavor Summers brought home individual championships for the Bulldog wrestling team on Saturday at Burlington’s Dick Mellinger Invitational. Grace secured three first-period falls to win the 120-pound championship while Summers polished off a perfect week by bringing home the 160-pound title.

Summers scored four more wins on Saturday, improving to 8-0 on the season with four pins including first-period falls secured against Davenport Central senior Esteban Gomez and Davenport North freshman Liam Glasgow. Summers also pinned Burlington senior Owen George, who finished second to Summers in the 160-pound bracket, before wrapping up the tournament pinning Keokuk junior Corey Skinner in 2:27.

Grace, meanwhile, scored three first-period pins including a fall in 34 seconds over Davenport North freshman Jacob DeWispelaere in what proved to be the 120-pound championship match. Dawson Goodwin (126), Sayar Aung (138), Zachariah Shoemaker (152) and Max Messerli (170) all finished second for Ottumwa, helping the Bulldogs scored 323 points in the tournament to finish in third place, 29 points behind runner-up Burlington and 66 points behind team champion Davenport North.

Ottumwa will be back in dual action on Tuesday night at Ankeny Centennial.
