SULLY — The ninth-ranked (Class 3A) Albia High School softball team won twice at the Lynnville-Sully tournament Saturday as the Lady Dees ran their winning streak to six games.
Albia defeated Des Moines Christian 8-2, as the Lady Dees broke on top with a two-run third inning and led the rest of the way.
Jena Lawrence homered and drove in four runs for the Lady Dees (12-3) and also picked up the win in the circle, allowing two runs and only two hits while striking out five.
Kennedy Schroeder, Alex Beard and Danica Workman collected two hits apiece, and Makenna Jones also homered in the contest.
The Lady Dees then defeated Lynnville-Sully 8-1, getting five runs in the top of the fifth to break the game open.
Makenna Ross homered and drove in three runs, while Lawrence homered for the second straight game. Abbey Griffin had two hits and drove in two runs.
Jones picked up the win, tossing six innings and allowing just one run on three hits. She struck out eight.
Albia hosts EBF in a South Central Conference contest today.
